Who Knows What Goes on Behind Those Walls?

When you step in to any room in your house, providing you have paid your bill, you reach for a switch and almost instantly you have light. It is as if by some miracle the light knows when you move the switch.

What most people don’t realize is the mind boggling amount of wires that hangs just behind your drywall. Lower branch circuits in your house carry electricity from the breaker/fuse panel through wiring to one side of the switch. Moving the switch provides a connecting path to the light. Sounds simple enough, right?

Many houses in the 1500 square foot range contain as much as 1 mile of wiring just so we can have light when needed or charge our cell phones at convenient places. There are problems that can occasionally occur in our vast wiring maze. Ground fault plugs do go bad, circuit breakers can become faulty.

As a home buyer you might not notice or check the condition of these components. A home inspection can discover potential minor problems before they become major problems.
